What is a Property location/Space?
When a film, television or advertising company need to shoot, one of the
first decisions they must make is where will we do this? In the early
days of the cinema, there was little choice: with bulky equipment and
lights, the only place you could film anything was in a studio.
So an industry has grown up supplying locations to the film and photo
industry. In years gone by, each location-finding exercise was fresh:
a location scout would be sent out to knock on doors to find the perfect
kitchen, let's say, for a washing powder commercial. Nowadays there are
many location libraries in the US and elsewhere which can make location
finding much easier.

Why locations?
Photographers and film companies want to shoot on location for a number
of reasons, not the least of which is that it is usually cheaper than
building a set! Locations generally look more realistic than anything
that can be built in a studio, and they don't have to be broken down and
packed away afterwards.

What is a location library?
The accumulation of thousands of images of residential properties and
spaces. which are willing to be used as a location for filming, photography
or events.
Our library grows every day - we have a lot of new locations uploaded
every year. If you don't see what you're looking for on this visit, be
sure to bookmark the site and check again later!

Why a location library?
Ultimate Dreamspaces is a specialist agency providing unique locations
and props to film-makers, still photographers and the media industry.
We are approached daily by production companies and photographers to find
suitable locations and props for their purposes: it might be a mansion,
a loft, a penthouse, a poll, a rooftop, muscle cars or even speed boats
or custom motorcycles.
Whatever the requirement, we are here to eliviate the stress of finding
that unique location and prop for our client.

How can I include my property/space?
If you think your property might be suitable, we'd be very excited to
hear from you.
Firstly, decide whether your property has the right qualities to be a
location within our portfolio. We at Ultimate Dreamspaces are looking
to include only the most unique and one of a kind locations. Please browse
our location library to get a feel of the type of locations we have.
It's difficult to put your finger on a type of location
that could be in demand. For sure spaces such as grand mansions, minimal
loft apartments, hi-tech interiors and zen poolsides are constantly sought,
So are larger spaces which offer many different locations in one place
- a rooftop, an amazing kitchen, an expansive dining room, etc. But just
as frequently we are asked for quite ordinary spaces! There's other things
to also consider, there is the practicality of getting a photographic
team, or a film crew, into your space. Do you have parking facilities?
Is the space easily accessible? Also you must bear in mind the distance
from the nearest city - our clients will only travel a short distance
to get to a location which is exceptional or unusual (why travel twenty
miles to a property the likes of which can be found one mile away?).
Once You have decided you want to include your property, the next step
is to submit a description and most importantly 'Photos'!! We love em!!
No amount of description can "sell" your location! We need good
quality photographs to put in our shop window.
Our clients view our web site needing to see what your location looks
like. The photos must be good! A film company or photographer is often
working to a deadline: if it comes to a choice between locations, it may
well be the quality of the images that decides one over the other. Dark
or fuzzy pictures will frustrate rather than entice; a picture of a designer
chair does not impart the quality of the room it's in.
So if you'd like to have a go, photograph your property thoroughly (inside
and out), and send them to us. You can actually attach them at the same
time you fill out our register your property form.
The clearer your photographs, the better the chance they will sell your
property to our clients. Don't be afraid to picture the same scene from
different angles. Clients want a realistic depiction of a location, warts
and all, not just the pretty angles!
Here are some helpful tips: always photograph your space in daylight hours.
If you can, make use of available light rather than using flash - it makes
your property look much more realistic and inviting. Shoot a minimum of
24 photographs so we can really see your space.
At this point once we receive your information and sample pictures we
will contact you to arrange a viewing. For those of you that are not too
hot with the photography side of things, We can arrange our in house professional
photographer to shoot your property for you. This can be done at a minor
rate of approx. $300 and most of the time will pay off for you in the
long run.

Photographing
your Property
We must have pictures! No amount of description can "sell" your
property. Our clients visit our web site needing to see what your location
looks like.
We don't necessarily expect professional quality photographs,
but the pictures must be good. A film company or photographer is often
working to a deadline: if it comes to a choice between locations, it may
well be the quality of the images that decides one over the other. Dark
or fuzzy pictures will frustrate rather than entice; a picture of a favourite
vase does not impart the quality of the room it's in.
So what to do? Modern digital cameras, used with a little
care, can provide excellent results. Here's a few pointers:
::
Wide angle lenses
Used carefully, a wide angle lens can show much more of a room than a
normal lens. But there are dangers:
a small room can be made to appear much larger than it really is;
the image can look distorted.
To avoid distortion, shoot with a standard lens whenever possible, moving
the camera further back to get the same view. When using a wide angle
lens, ensure that the camera angle is level (i.e. horizontal) so that
the verticals appear upright through the viewfinder.
::
Hold the camera steady
If you can't use a tripod, use a monopod. If you can't use a monopod,
hold the camera as steadily as you can! That's how to get the sharpest
pictures.
::
Use available light
Always photograph interiors in daylight, and try to avoid using a flash.
The light coming in the window is the best light possible, and your pictures
will most closely resemble what the eye can see.
::
What to shoot
The pictures that end up on our web site will tell a story: as though
we are being welcomed into your home:
First pictures are of the exterior as though we have just arrived (first
impressions - from the street, garden path, front door);
We are then welcomed in to the premises (downstairs hall);
Offered a cup of tea (living/sitting room);
Then shown around (dining room, TV lounge, kitchen);
Taken upstairs (bedrooms, bathroom, study, gym);
And finally the garden (patio, summerhouse).
Although you may not necessarily be taking the pictures in this order,
this is how they will be presented in the web library.
As an example, take an "ordinary" living room:
This room has a door, two bay windows and a fireplace.
Start by taking a picture from the doorway:
This is what you would see when you first enter the room;
Then shoot the room from each of the corners, to ensure that every possible
corner is being shown.
Then photograph any features of the room which are exceptional, for example
the fireplace, the settee, the view out of the window, or the piano in
the corner.
Ensure that any special features are photographed "straight-on"
so that they are the centre of attraction.
Be sure to cover features which make your location unique
- the stained glass window, the secret passage, or the folly in the garden.
Sometimes it can just be a wall or a door which captures a mood, for example
faded grandeur. The clearer your photographs, the better the chance they
will sell your property to our clients. Don't be afraid to picture the
same scene from different angles. Clients want a realistic depiction of
a location, warts and all, not just the pretty angles! Don't photograph
the chairs on either side of the fireplace - we need to see the fireplace
too. If the roof is easily accessible, photograph the roof. If it involves
climbing gear, or requires health and safety training, don't bother: if
you can't do it easily, it will be ten times more difficult for a film
crew.
::
How many pics to shoot
Shoot as many as you like, hundreds if necessary. There is no particular
cost involved when using digital, and we will pick the shots that we think
represent your location in the best light.
If we show your pictures to a client, and they ask "what's round
that corner?", you haven't photographed the location sufficiently.

How can I submit my own photos?
Please send your images as JPEGs!
Other image types are considerably larger, and will take much longer to
upload at your end, and download at our end! As an example, an image as
a TIFF is likely to be about five times the size of the same image as
a JPEG, with no appreciable difference in quality.
Not too large!
These days, your images are most likely to be viewed electronically, either
on our library web site, or on private web pages we set up for our clients.
As such, the ideal image size is 640 x 480 pixels (SVGA) - as a JPEG.
Of course, as with every self-respecting rule, there are exceptions: if
the image is a long, wide pan, it is acceptable as, let's say, 1200 x
400 pixels.
Do not recompress!
JPEG images use an extremely efficient compression technique, and do not
need to be subsequently compressed again using another package, such as
ZIP or BinHEX - recompressing them like this is likely to increase the
file size.
Do not package the JPEGs!
We prefer simple, straightforward JPEGs, not embedded in other packages
such as MS Word or Photoshop. If you are providing captions, just put
them in the email body.
Send them in batches!
If you are using a dial-up connection, send a maximum of six images with
an email, then send the others in another email. This makes it less likely
that a break in transmission will require you to start at the beginning
again.
Mark them clearly!
These days, people quite often send us images by email, and then separately,
hard copies by post. That's what we like! however that time delay causes
us problems - often it is difficult for us to link them up. So please
find a way of giving your email a distinctive title - and use the same
title on the postal package. If you can't think of anything else, stick
the date and time on both! This will avoid your images getting mixed up.

What happens next?
We will enter the photos and description in our location library on the
web, for our clients to view. If yours is chosen as a possible option,
we will contact you immediately to establish availability, arrange site
visits and negotiate a suitable fee.
Not all of the locations we receive do end up in our web location library
- for a start, it takes time to prepare the images and upload them. However,
even if your photos do not end up on the web site, our clients will be
given every opportunity to consider your property.
It may be one day, one month or one year before you get a call! - it simply
depends on what is fashionable, or on the demands of the industry, we
will however keep you informed of every enquiry we get regarding your
space and try to improve where necessary.
If the production goes ahead, we will ensure that a legal
contract is drawn up, that the correct insurances and deposits are in
place, and arrange for payment to be made to you on the day. We also ensure
you of an Ultimate Dreamspaces member of staff be on site at all times
during the production when necessary. It's as simple as that.

How much does it cost?
NOTHING/ZIP/NADA!. Ultimate Dreamspaces makes no charge for including
your space on our web site. That's because our web site is our shop window:
we don't charge our customers to look at the goods on display, nor do
we charge our suppliers (the location owners) for supplying the goods!
It's that easy...
Another reason that we do not charge is because it is not possible for
us to offer any guarantees: the presence of your images on the web, doesn't
guarantee that Hollywood or Quentin Tarentino will come knocking. The
location business is too fickle for that, and our advice is not to register
with any company that tells you otherwise.

How much could my property/space earn?
Location fees vary according to the production. Some take only a few hours;
others last for days or weeks. Rates vary enormously, sometimes up to
many thousands of dollars. We will negotiate the best possible fee for
all parties involved and once everybody is happy, we go to contract and
you start earning!

Owner's confidentiality
Photographs of your property, and your details, are held securely within
our offices here in Miami. The photographs are stored in our location
library and your details are held in our computer database, which is password
protected, and inaccessible from the internet. Your privacy is important
to us: we will NEVER give out your personal details to any client without
your express permission, and without us establishing the authenticity
of the enquiry. And if at any time in the future you decide you no longer
want to be represented by us, simply let us know and your details and
images will be returned to you and/or destroyed.

Exclusive or non-exclusive?
Many of the locations we represent are exclusively represented by us,
in other words they are not on the books of other location libraries.
Such a decision is entirely yours, and may be influenced by the type of
location you have.
If your location is 'ordinary' (is there such a thing?) you may decide
to get it seen by as many potential clients as possible by registering
it with many location libraries.
If, on the other hand, your location is likely to generate a lot of interest
from film companies, advertising agencies, etc., we recommend that you
consider signing exclusively with us. The advantages are as follows:
We will ensure the location pictures feature prominently in our web site
and we guarantee that your location will be considered by top decision-makers
within the industry. Exclusively-represented properties are ensured a
higher position within our category pages, increasing your profile.
We will send a 'mailshot' using our extensive database of top professionals
in the feature film industry, and to advertising agencies, television
companies and photographers.
While hiring your space as a location may generate income, it is unlikely
to be your primary business - and your time is precious. With exclusive
representation you will have one point of contact to run your location
"diary" for you, giving a clear view on what's happening and
when.
Contractual matters will be handled by our full-time staff of location
coordinators. We have experience handling the most complex of shoots in
the most sensitive of locations, and so can considerably ease the process
for you. Our staff's knowledge of your site and its special requirements
can avoid the many pitfalls that can arise.
we will be polite but firm about your pricing structure. Since we handle
so many shoots per annum, we know the right price for the job and will
negotiate the best possible price on your behalf.
The decision to be exclusive or otherwise is entirely yours. Please contact
us now by phone at 305.704.8006 or by email at booking@ultimatedreamspaces.com
if you'd like to discuss this further.

*** Vehicle ***

Why a vehicle?
When a film, television or advertising company need to shoot, apart from
finding the best location to shoot at they are also looking for the best
and most unique prop to suit there particular needs. In some cases this
could be a magazine cover shot with a sexy girl, rock star or moviestar,
a music video or promotional photo shoot or even a high budget feature
film. In other cases this could simply be for a calender, catalog, tv
series or advertising comercial. Either which way they always need props
and the cooler the better!

Why my vehicle?

your vehicle's resale value and kudos, together with possible tax write
off's if its a custom project.
